Vicki Rozema uses the voices of eyewitnesses to re-create the period leading up to the removal of the Cherokees from their land, their journey West, and the difficulties they faced when they settled in the West. She employs newspaper articles, journal excerpts, correspondence and official documents to present a comprehensive overview of this tragic time. This book will make the reader think about the treatment of the Native Amerians during this time, and also allow the reader to see the spirit of the survivors of this harrowing journey.
All proceeds generated through the sale of Smokies Life merchandise go to Great Smoky Mountains National Park to support projects and services.
